Civilisation 26: Euclid of Alexandria

Euclid’s greatest skill seems to have been in pulling together the work of many earlier mathematicians into the world’s first, properly coherent account of mathematical theory. In doing so he devised, collated and articulated a set of mathematical ‘proofs’ that we still teach today.
