Professional courage – not an optional extra

In professional life courage is not an optional extra – it is a necessity and the duty of care we have to the people we serve demands that we develop it.

What a bloody waste!

It seems that the Pescado wasn’t seaworthy. I’m not sure what was wrong with it – but I know more than Aidy did. I know that the previous skipper had refused to sail in her and another, inexperienced skipper got his big break in an unworthy boat. I know that the reason the crew were all green as grass was because the regular seamen in Devon wouldn’t sail in her. I know that the two newlyweds on the Pescado who were working the voyage to finance their first home wouldn’t be coming back to shore. And I know (with the benefit of hindsight) that the boat exploded and then sank within days of sailing from the South coast. Aidy knew none of that.

Interview with Project Prevention UK

I won’t say that I’m happy for Project Prevention to be in UK but I was reassured that the proposed UK model is very different (and significantly more honest and collaborative) than the original US model that we’ve all heard so much about.

A developing site

Felicity Stockwell (author of ‘the unpopular patient’) is one of those people I respect the most in this world. Her insights can be truly stunning and yet she still manages to avoid the mistake of taking herself too seriously.
